Eisman was born on July 8, 1962, and grew up in New York City, USA.  He attended the Jewish institution known as Yeshiva Schools. After this, he graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with Latin honors in 1984. Next, he attended Harvard Law School, where he earned a degree in law. He is married to Valerie Feigen, a famous American actress. They have been married for 29 years.


After his education, he got a job with the Front Point Partners, which is a unit of Morgan Stanley, a betting agency. He quickly became a successful worker on the collateralized debt obligation in his company. In 2010, he made the company over $1 million, becoming recognized globally. Michael Lewis’s book “The Big Short: Inside the Doomsday Machine” revolves around him. So does the popular movie, although his name was changed to Mark Baum. The movie was nominated for 5 Academy Awards, and winning one of them, the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay. Eisman left the company in 2011.

The same year, he started Emrys Partners, with a $23 million capital. However, he only had a 3.6% profit in 2012. In 2013, it was 10.8%, before he closed it in 2014. At the time of closing, the fund had assets worth $185 million.

After this venture, he joined Neuberger Berman in order to help them as a managing director. While on this position, he made a profit to educational institutions including Education Management Corporation, Corinthian Colleges, and Thing IT Educational Services.
