As far as money goes 50 Cent has seen both ends of the spectrum and has lived through a lot of difficult things, be it issues with the law or being shot in the chest. But he has come out on top every single time and was able to be successful in the music industry in the US.
50 Cent wasn’t always his name of course, he changed it from Curtis James Jackson III as a symbol for his strong wish to take control of his own destiny and get what he is destined for. Here we’re going to take a look at what exactly he did to accumulate all that money.

He was born on the 6th of July, 1975 and was brought up in the South Jamaica neighbourhood by his mother Sabrina who was working as a drug dealer at the time but died when he was only 8 years old. After that his grandmother raised him and he went to Andre Jackson High School.
When he was 11 he started developing an interest for boxing and started going to a local gym which was very welcoming to kids like him. Besides doing boxing he started selling drugs when he was only 12 years old. In 10th grade he was caught with a firearm and narcotics on school grounds. In 1994 he got arrested because he was trying to sell cocaine to an undercover police officer and just bit after that he decided to change his name to 50 Cent.

In 1994 50 Cent became a father of a baby boy with his then-girlfriend Shaniqua Tompkins. Their relationship was pretty bad but he tried very hard to always be there or his son, unlike his own father. Later on in he got another son with Daphne Joy, a model he dated in 2012.
Accomplishments
50 Cent fist started rapping when he was a teenager and was recording at a friend’s place. He had a mentor who was helping him out, Jam Master Jay. His first appearance was in Onyx’s album “Shut ‘Em Down” which was released in 1998. In 1999 he signed a deal with Columbia Records by Trackmasters. Shortly after that he founded his own label with G-Unit’s Bang ‘Em Serve and named it Hollow Point Entertainment.
His rise to popularity was tanked to his spontaneously composed track “How to Rob”. In May of 2000, he got shot 9 times into the chest, but he survived and recovered after 5 months. There were some issues and he was dropped by Columbia records after which he had to start over and that’s when he released a mixtape called “Guess Who’s Back” which was the real reason he became famous because Eminem noticed it and it led to him being introduced to Dr. Dre and signed a $1 million record for the album “No Mercy, No Fear”.

His first album “Get Rich or Die Tryin” was released in 2003 and it got to number one on Billboard 200 in a bit less than a week. Later one he was given his own label by Interscope called G-Unit Records. His next album was also very successful just like albums after that one.

Music wasn’t the only thing that was earning him money, there’s also all the business ventures he was in. He created a flavored drink called Formula 50 and is even a fashion designer for Frigo Boxers. As of now, his net worth is around $25 million but in 2015 it was at $155 million.
